Our Mission
Friends in Action Team 74 is proposing a unique two-fold project involving a 2-room top to bottom renovation at Metropolitan Community Methodist Church in Harlem as well as a partnership with Adaptive Design Assocation, Inc. Team 74 is committed to creating a world that is peaceful and free by being loving and authentic.

The Metropolitan Community United Methodist Church in Harlem offer many different services to the community including: a soup kitchen, health and preventive medicine, metro travel, outreach, music and performing arts and youth and caring. The Church is central to the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of the local community.
The soup kitchen and the Church kitchen feeds between 70-80 people everyday as well as organizes holiday feasts and gatherings for those who are economically struggling in the local community. The Church kitchen is an extension of the soup kitchen across the street.
The community room is multi-faceted and supports many different events, serving as a rehearsal space for the church choir, bible study group, holiday meals, kids activities such as tae kwon doe, and the elderly.

The mission of the Adaptive Design Association (ADA) is to ensure that children with disabilities obtain the customized equipment they need to thrive in home, school, and community life. To this end, ADA offers training in adaptive design, builds customized equipment, and promotes a broad-based expansion of adaptive design services and education in schools, hospitals, and communities. The Adaptive Design Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Friends in Action Team 74 is committed to refurbishing 12 "Caring Chairs (TM)" as well as sponsoring all 12 chairs to places of need. In addition to putting our hands at work, we are furthering ADA's mission by delivering equipment and community outreach.
